Our proposal includes an elegant, vintage-style picnic basket filled with local delicacies: excellent cheeses, selected cured meats, delicious appetizers, freshly baked bread, an irresistible dessert, fresh water and a bottle of wine for two.

We will take care of everything: we will provide you with the basket, the support towel and a detailed map to guide you to discover enchanting corners. All that is left for you to do is to treat yourself to a relaxing day, bring a camera with you to capture the most special moments.

The rest will be done by the breathtaking landscape of the Langhe, with its majestic giant benches dotting the hills, creating a magical and unparalleled atmosphere.

The creation of the Big Benches began as part of an initiative to enhance the area, attract tourism and make the region’s beauty more visible.

Here are some interesting facts about these giant benches:

  • Origin of the Big Benches: The idea for the Big Benches was conceived by Chris Bangle, an internationally renowned automotive designer (former head of BMW design), who moved to Piedmont and wanted to pay homage to the beauty of his new home. The benches are a symbol of the Langhe landscape, a way for people to “sit” and enjoy the breathtaking views.
  • The project in Monforte d’Alba: Monforte d’Alba is one of the towns where one of the Big Benches is located. This small town, known for its wine production, saw one of the first installations of the giant benches. In addition to being a tourist attraction, these benches have helped improve the visibility of the region.
  • Size and design: The Big Benches are huge, ranging in size from 4 to 8 meters in length and a height that can exceed 2 meters. They are constructed of wood and painted in bright colors, with a unique design that makes them easily recognizable. Each bench is placed in scenic spots, often with extraordinary views of the Langhe hills.
  • The Big Bench Community Project: The Big Benches have become part of a larger initiative called the Big Bench Community Project, a project involving several municipalities in the Langhe and Roero. The benches have become symbols of welcome and relaxation, inviting visitors to stop, relax, and admire the natural beauty of the area. The project has been a great success, and other benches have also been installed in other regions of Italy and abroad.
